don’t feed hungry people
The richest man in the world is offering to buy votes, giving a million dollars a day away to folks who signal that their vote can be bought. Some people are hungry for power, some are hungry for wealth, some are hungry for acceptance, and some are just plain hungry. Imagine, if the richest man in the world offered to give a million dollars a day to help feed the hungry. Imagine how many children in Gaza could escape the food deprivation and malnutrition that’s been forced on them. Imagine how many school lunches could be sponsored.
This is one of those frustrations that claw at my ribcage. It doesn’t have to be this way. It is grotesque enough the amount of money one person can accumulate just to throw at self aggrandizement. Being a billionaire should not be possible if there are people dying of hunger. People should not die of hunger in this day and age. There is enough food on the planet, probably enough thrown into the trash bin, to make sure every child has enough to eat.
This is why I have extreme amount of respect for Chef Jose Andre and World Kitchen. In fact, I am so inspired that I’m dedicating my next book to him. It’s an urban fantasy, right now titled The Pot Stirrers, and will be released in 2025. It will have witches and flying carpets, and magic and love, especially the magic of feeding hungry people. I am debating adding recipes to the index, of course, substituting worm meal for a more universally acceptable protein, maybe.
